From the National Tour of Titanic the Musical (J.Bruce Ismay):
“James Bruce Ismay (Philip Paul Kelly) played with such villainy; driving the show’s constant goading of the ship’s captain into going faster that he might as well be twirling a mustache.” –
Leslie Mizell, Special to the Greensboro News & Record

I am a music director and vocal coach and have worked in the business for 30 years.  I have worked with performers including Eartha Kitt,  Phyllis Diller, Debra Gibson, Ripp Taylor, Morgan Brittany, to name a few.  I have music directed over 20 National tours and was musical supervisor for productions of Footloose at the Rio Casino in Las Vegas and at Harrah’s in Atlantic City. I recently had the opportunity to tour and work with Philip Paul Kelly on a national tour of Titanic The Musical and I found him wonderfully talented.  He has tremendous charisma on stage and has a range of vocal abilities that make him a very versatile singer as well as a stylist.  He was a delight to work with and I always felt he was in complete control of his vocal production.  With his voice I would predict great success for him in any musical venture.

A Christmas Carol the Musical (Scrooge)
“Philip Paul Kelly, a talented actor and vocalist, plays Ebenezer Scrooge to the sympathetic-nasty hilt, writhing on the fog-filled stage at what his greed has wrought.”
Diana Morse, The Morning Call of Allentown & Bethlehem PA

Peter Pan (Captain Hook)
“Captain Hook (Philip Paul Kelly) was larger than life, very theatrical and great fun. Every time he appeared on stage, the audience greeted him with boos, adding to the melodrama.”
-Myra Yellin Outwater, Special to The Morning Call of Allentown & Bethlehem PA

I have always admired Philip Paul Kelly’s singing and acting. Having been in the fashion and theater business and knowing singers such as Julie Andrews, Polly Bergen, and Chita Rivera, I believe his voice is right up there with the best of them. His voice is powerful, romantic and dynamic. I enjoyed his vocal performances many times and especially in “Titanic” and “The Hero’s Benefit” which he produced after 9/11, highly profiled in Liz Smith’s syndicated column and included many Broadway stars, well known cabaret performers, comedians, biographers, and even a Grammy winner.  What has been said is true! “Philip commands you to watch and listen to him perform.”  Having produced and directed my own fashion shows for years I still imagine a show extravaganza with a musical background and I certainly would feature Philip Paul Kelly.

Philip Paul Kelly is every composer’s dream – a singer with a powerful and expressive voice who is unafraid to dig deep and find the inner truth of the song he’s singing.  Unlike so many singers of the current fashion, Philip has the ability to transform himself into the character of the song, finding the emotional core of the persona he is exploring, searching within himself to make an emotional connection, and revealing to the audience his complex feelings in vivid color.

Composer/Music Director “Fags and Cellphones”

There is only one word to describe Philip Paul Kelly. AMAZING! He is one of the most gifted singers I have ever heard! Technically there are a lot of good singers and vocalists on the music scene today, but Philip has the gift of drawing the listener in emotionally and making his audience feel the song. He sings straight from the heart, and can even make the most jaded cynic shed a tear.

Philip Paul Kelly brings his Broadway styling’s into the mainstream and blows your mind with his vocal gymnastics. Imagine Neil Diamond meets the “Phantom” and you will have his new CD. Already in my TOP 10 for 2004!
